Amenities tab
When you click onto another swapper’s advert, you’ll see this screen:
Now, you’ll probably be familiar with the About this home tab, which is where all the important information about their home is listed. On here are all the details that they put in themselves when they signed up to HomeSwapper. But have you ever taken a look at the Amenities tab?
What does the tab show?
This tab shows all the useful services that are around this swapper’s home and the distance they are from there. By clicking onto the Amenities tab, you will see your closest:
- Train stations
- Bus stops
- Metros
- Primary schools
- Secondary schools
- Doctors
- Dentists
- Pharmacies
- Hospitals
- Libraries
- Supermarkets
- Restaurants
- Takeaways
All of this information is brought together by HomeSwapper and worked out using the postcode of the home and various data sources. These are automatically checked every week to make sure that they are as up to date as possible!
It’s important to note though, that if you’re living outside of England, you won’t be able to see information for doctors, hospitals, dentists and pharmacies, as this information is given by the NHS and is for England only. Equally, local school information is only given for homes in England and Scotland.
Why is this tab useful?
The Amenities tab can be really helpful if your accessibility is limited and you need to make sure that you’d be able to easily reach public transport, doctor’s surgeries and supermarkets if you were to swap into this home.
This tab is also important if you have children and need to be sure of which schools your children would be able to attend if you were to swap into this home. Once the swap is confirmed, it’s really helpful to be able to see here which school you should be applying for your child’s place in for when you move.
In general, it’s always great to get a good feel for an area before you decide to move to it. Looking at this tab will give you a good idea early on of what would be in your local area, so you can decide if it’s right for you, based on your priorities.
