Many of the landlords that are signed up to HomeSwapper hold events throughout the year to touch base with you all, answer any queries and – often – put on a day of activities and games. No doubt you’ll have attended one with your landlord before, but if not, we recommend giving them a try! Here we tell you why…
Meeting other swappers
There will probably be other tenants going to these events that are interested in a home swap, so if you’re looking to stay in your local area, then events like these are a great way to meet potential swaps!
You could print out your advert before you go, or – in some cases – ask your landlord to print it for you so you can take it along on the day. Alternatively, download the HomeSwapper Matches app, so other swappers that you meet can take a look at your home and see if you could be a match.
Meeting organisations
Some landlords invite other organisations along to the day as a ‘drop in’ service for tenants looking for a mutual exchange. This is a great opportunity to informally meet these organisations and explore downsizing to a smaller home or other housing options.
Getting to know your landlord
Tenant events are a great way to get to know your landlord a little better! You’ll be able to make connections with staff in a different environment and speak to them about housing options, Universal Credit, shared ownership and other tenancy types.
If your landlord has introduced digital services or new processes recently then it’s also a great chance to be able to ask questions about getting set up!
HomeSwapper help
Often, tenant events will also include a stand on helping you get to grips with the different mutual exchange options. If the landlord holding the event is partnered with HomeSwapper and ask for us to be there, then if we can, we’ll send a couple of our team members across for the day to help out with any specific HomeSwapper queries.
If there’s anything that you want to be clearer on about how HomeSwapper works, or you just want to be sure you’re making the most of the website, then these tenant events are for you! Before you come along have a think about some specific areas that you’d like help with – do you want to learn how to upload pictures? Perhaps you need some help setting up your search filters? Or maybe you want some pointers on making your advert sound as good as possible? We can help with all of this!
If you have a mobile phone and can download the HomeSwapper Matches app before you come, then if our team are there, they can take a look at your profile and take you through the processes you need help with.
Make sure you check beforehand if we’re going to be at your tenant event, though to avoid disappointment! If we’re attending an event, we’ll share this on our Facebook page, which you can find here.
If you can’t wait for a tenant event, here’s a reminder of where you can find videos and step-by-step guides to give you a hand with some of the HomeSwapper functions: https://www.homeswapper.me/need-help/
Fun, fun, fun!
Finally, tenant events can also be lots of fun! A lot of landlords will put on games, competitions, activities and music on the day, so if you want a great day out with your neighbours or your family then make sure you head to your landlord’s next event!
To be sure you don’t miss out on your landlord’s next event, keep an eye on their website, as well as their newsletters and Twitter and Facebook pages.
